Keeping the Peace
Deron II students celebrated National School Violence Awareness Week by building and painting two 3-dimensional “KEEPING THE PEACE” murals. They cut and trimmed 100 6x6 wooden plaques and painted them in a variety of colored backgrounds. Students then worked to customize their individual Peace Plaques with colors, designs and stickers. A computer-generated peace sign placed on each plaque signifies the theme of the project and brings them all together to create an impressive piece of work.
The project was completed in both Art and Woodshop classes. Teacher Assistants Manny and Martin added a professional touch by working with the students to create the cut-out lettering and detail for each piece.
The murals are on display, one in the entrance stairwell and the other on the 1st floor hallway, for all to share and to remind us about “Keeping the Peace” throughout the year.
