The Deron School News and Events

Deron I, Union, warmly welcomed their first 9th grade students to the new Prep Program this September.  Starting with the 2010 school year, two classes of students began their high school careers with an academic schedule that reflects a traditional high school curriculum.

Students are housed in a separate secondary wing for all academic, transition, and daily living subjects.  In addition, schedules have been modified in order for high school students to have separate eating and recreational activities which provide opportunities for socialization geared for their age group.

Some of the elective classes enjoyed by our 9th graders include graphic arts and yearbook design, theater arts, computers, chorus and peer tutoring.  The high school students will also manage our all-school Student Council and related activities.

The kick-off of the Prep Program has been so successful, that our middle school students are eagerly awaiting their opportunity to “move up” in the future!
