High School Special Education at The Deron School

The Deron School’s High School Special Education Program

The Deron School’s High School Special Education Program focuses on preparing students for the transition to adulthood. We offer a variety of coursework and experiences that help students develop the skills they need to be successful in further education or the workforce.

Our program emphasizes independent thought, learning, and living and provides students with opportunities to sample various jobs and careers. Upon completion of their high school credits, students in our program are eligible to participate in our unique Bridge Program, which allows them to continue their education and transition into adulthood in an entirely new format. With the world as their classroom, the possibilities are endless for our students.

The Deron School’s Montclair Campus

The Deron School’s Montclair Campus provides a unique and individualized education for students aged 13-21 with special needs. We offer a variety of academic and pre-vocational programs that emphasize independent thought, learning, and living. Students are exposed to the transition through in-house pre-vocational experiences.

At age 16, students begin job sampling with various community partners in the area. Students ages 18-21 who have completed their high school credit requirements are eligible for entry into our unrivaled Bridge Program. This unique transition program allows students to experience learning in the Montclair community.
